Story-of-Kalu-Jhimar-English-Photo

The welfare of a living being is possible only by taking refuge in a true Guru. Our revered scriptures prove this truth, and the esteemed saints have confirmed it in their nectar words.

Kabir, guru bin mala ferte, guru bin dete daan||

Guru bin dono nishfal hain, chahe poochho Ved Puran||

The real guru/ Sadguru is a representative of the Supreme God who is familiar with the element of God and guides devotees to attain Him. A genuine spiritual teacher grants true salvation mantras, which lead seekers to achieve emancipation.

On the other hand, fake religious gurus destroy the lives of devotees because the way of worship provided by them is not certified in authentic holy scriptures, hence, useless.

The concept of acquiring a Guru in the path of devotion has existed for ages. Even Lord Ram, Lord Krishna had made a guru. It has been mentioned in Sachhidanand Ghan Brahm's speech

Ram Krishna se Kaun bado,  unhu bhi guru keenha| Teen lok ke ve Dhani, Guru aage aadheen||

Considering this as a benchmark, spiritually ignorant fake religious gurus for ages have deeply ingrained in human consciousness that one should acquire a Guru, be it anyone, because without a guru, the seekers fail to attain liberation.

Although Shri Ramchandra and Shri Krishna had gurus but they were not real gurus; hence, they could not provide salvation to their devotees. Both Shri Ram and Shri Krishna, alias Lord Vishnu, are still in the trap of Brahm Kaal.

The point is, the seeker gets benefit (liberation) only by following the guidelines told by a true guru and worshipping the Supreme God Kabir.

Moving ahead, we will read the true story of a pious soul named Kalu, a fisherman whom the Brahman Narada Muni made his guru to get his welfare done.

The following will be the key points

  • Who was Kalu?
  • Why did Kalu Jhimar pretend to be a sage?
  • Transformation of Kalu from a fisherman to a saint
  • Almighty Kabir met Kalu  Jhimar
  • Narada Muni acquired Kalu Jhimar his Guru

Who Was Kalu?

Almighty Kabir descends in Brahm Kaal's realm time and again and by imparting His true spiritual knowledge charges His beloved souls with true devotion. In this connection, the Supreme God Kavir Dev, as per his divine law, took the soul of Kalu into His shelter in some of his human births and sowed in him the seed of devotion.

On the other hand, Shaitan Kaal wants all souls to become atheists and get involved in all sorts of nuisance. Hence, gave birth to the virtuous soul of God Kabir in a low caste that is in the Jhimar community.

He was named Kaluram. Born in a Dheemar/ Fisherman community, Kalu was very poor. The source of income was dependent on the sale of fish. Kalu Jhimar himself also used to eat fish, drink liquor and used to do arbitrary worship. This is how Kaal ruins the virtues of naïve Souls.

Dark-complexioned Kalu was bony with long hair, was bearded and ordinary in appearance, but was humble and God-loving due to previous birth sacraments. It is said

Kabir, kamai aapni kade na nishfal jaye|| Saat Samunder  aade pade mile aga ugah||

Such virtuous souls like Kalu are usually highly impatient.

Why Did Kalu Jhimar Pretend To Be A Sage?

Kalu Jhimar had caught and sold all the fish of the ponds near his locality. There were no more fish now.

Selling fish was his occupation; hence, he got restless and went to the adjacent state to catch fish. He saw the fish in the pond in the neighbouring state were healthy, fat and many in number. He planned to catch fish from that pond.

The King of that neighbouring state was religious and had banned the killing of creatures in his Kingdom. No one was allowed to either catch fish from ponds or hunt animals in the forest. Anyone found guilty was punished heavily.

Fearing this, Kalu planned to take the risk of catching fish early morning before sunrise. He informed his wife of the same, took the net and went to the pond. He caught the first lot of big, fat fish and came out of the pond. It was pleasant weather, a bit cold, hence he cut a few wood from the surroundings and lit a fire to warm himself. He was ready to enter the pond to catch the next lot of fish. By the time it was dawn.

The convoy of the king of that state was passing by to go to another city. Kaluram heard the sound of the bell of the King's elephant. There were many soldiers also in that big convoy. The convoy took a turn towards the pond. The turn was nearly 10 acres (200 feet) from the pond.

Kalu got scared that he would be punished today by the King, as he had caught many fish. He immediately threw all the fish back into the pond that he had caught, also threw his fishing net.

Kalu was wearing a lion-cloth (langot) only. He took some ash from the fire he had lit and smeared it all over his body and sat down pretending to be meditating like a sage, for that was the only way to save himself.

God-loving soul Kalu prayed to the Almighty in his mind to save him today. He will quit catching fish forever.  It is said

Kabir, sau chhal chhider mein karu apne Jan ke kaaj||

God plays several spectacles for His beloved soul to take him into His shelter. It was all happening as per the plan of the Supreme God.

Transformation of Kalu From Fisherman To A Saint

The King saw a sage (Mahatma) meditating early in the morning.  He was delighted. It is said

Sadhu darshan Ram ka mukh par base suhag, aur darsh unhi ko hote hai jinke puran bhaag||

Kabira darshan sadhu ka Parmatma aave yaad, aur lekhe mein wahe ghadi baki ka samay barbaad||

Kalu saw with half-open eyes that the King was approaching. He got scared. The King went near Kalu, got down from the elephant, bowed down to him and said, ‘Maharaj, Namo Narayan'.

Due to fear, Kalu got nervous. He held his breath (surati) upwards, hence got into the state of meditation. Well,  it happens with the previous birth's sacraments. God creates such circumstances. It is said

Pichle punh se hote hai puran hans murad||

There was no reaction from Kalu.

The King thought the sage was meditating; therefore, he should not disturb him. He took some ash and applied it on his forehead, prostrated, touched the feet of sage Kalu, then put 5 gold coins near the ash towards his feet and silently went away.

Kalu Jhimar went deep into meditation. By the time it was afternoon. His wife got worried, in case he was caught, hence, she came there searching for her husband. She called Kalu, but he did not respond. Then his wife kicked him on his back.

Kaluram immediately woke up from meditation and, out of fear, said, ‘I just came today for the first time. I did not catch any fish. Kalu thought the soldiers of the King had come. He saw it was his wife. He asked his wife ‘Where has the King gone?  Where are the soldiers? ‘. His wife did not understand what the matter was and said, ‘There is no King here. You must have had a dream.

Kalu said, ‘No, it wasn’t a dream but reality. ' The wife said, ‘Had there been the King, would he have spared you? Let’s go home.

Then Kalu saw 5 gold coins (mohar/ Asharfi of 10 gms) kept on ash.

This was the turning point in his life. It is said

Gyan lagan ka aur ghaam maran ka Yun kahe chamka sa hove||

Kalu pondered that ‘O the Supreme God! Today I simply pretended to be a fake sage, and look, even the King got scared of me; he (Bhoopal) bowed to me.  God, you protected me and gave me these 5 gold coins.  If I become a real saint, then God knows what happiness you would give me. ’

He became detached and said to his wife ‘Bhagwan, keep this gold. I cannot earn so much in my entire life that God gave me today. From today onwards, I will not catch fish, will not do violence to animals, will only do devotion.

He had already prayed to God to save him. God showered mercy and kept the belief of his devotee. He became a saint. This is how there was a transformation in Kalu from a fisherman to a saint.

Almighty Kabir Met Kalu Jhimar

The mind is very wicked. It is never satisfied. It is said

Teen lok se tirpat nahi ye mun bhogi khasiya||

Back home, the greedy wife of Kalu kept all 5 gold coins safe. Later, she told him to go and catch fish. There is no point in sitting idle at home. She gave Kalu the fishing net and packed food for him.

Kalu used to spend the whole day sitting idle in some lonely place and used to return empty-handed by the evening. A few days passed like this. His wife used to quarrel, but Kalu was detached from the world. He used to remain quiet.

Now, his only aim was to do devotion. One day, when he was sitting in a jungle Almighty Kabir came acquiring the form of a sage. Kalu requested him to guide him, 'How to attain God? ‘.

God Kabir preached to him, saying a guru is essential in the path of devotion. On Kalu’s request God Kabir became his guru, gave him ‘SohaM' mantra to chant and told all rules of true devotion to be strictly followed.

It has been mentioned in Sachhidanand Ghan Brahm's speech

SohaM shabad hum jag mein laye, Sarshabad hum gupt chupaye||

Kalu achieved a lot in a few days. He got engrossed in true devotion thereafter. After some time, the Supreme  God Kabir authorised him as a Guru and gave him permission to grant initiation and said, ‘Son, if any curious person (Jigyasu) comes to you, then rid him from all evils and grant him initiation’.

With the mercy of Almighty Kabir, Kalu became a supreme saint at that time.

Narada Muni Acquired  Kalu Jhimar His Guru

Narada Muni, a divine sage, is the son of Rajogun Lord Brahma.  He was once cursed to suffer in 84 lakh life-forms. Shri Brahma Ji suggested to him the way to escape that go in so and so direction and acquire the very first person, your guru, whom you come across early morning.

Narada Ji encountered Kalu Jhimar. He considered him an ordinary fisherman, although Kalu was enlightened by then. But the conservatism of society does not go away easily.

Narada Muni did not accept acquiring Kalu, his guru, and hence returned. He went again the next morning and encountered Kalu. He was reluctant to admit that he was a Brahman. How can he make a fisherman, a low-caste person, his guru? The second time, also he returned.

The third time, through a celestial announcement, Narada Muni was told to acquire Kalu, his guru, for his welfare will happen with him only. It is said

Kalu Jhimar ko guru Rishi ji bhakti bane nirali||  Aur bina guru ke narak ka bhaagi khud Brahma samjhali||

Finally, Narada Muni agreed. It is said

Narada ne Jhimar guru keenha, aur kya Gyan mein ho gaya heena||

Saints have no caste. Then Kalu, the saint, preached to him. Narada Ji got relief from the blessed soul of Almighty Kabir to the extent that was to happen by taking initiation from Kalu.

Narada Muni attained Heaven, the temporary dwelling place, but not complete salvation.

The nectar speech from revered Suksham Veda confirms that renowned dignitaries, sages/ saints, including Narada Muni, haven’t been liberated yet and are still trapped in the web of Brahm Kaal.

Koi hai re parle paar ka Jo bhed Kahe Jhankar ka|

Warahi Gorakh warahi Dutt warahi Dhruv Prahalad arth||

Warahi Sukhdev warahi Vyas warahi Parashar Parkash|| Warahi Durvasa Darvesh warahi Narada Sharad Shesh|| warahi Bhartari Gopichand warahi Sanak Sanandan panth||

The enlightened saint/ Sadguru decodes the secret of the melodious tune which echoes within the blessed souls of Almighty Kabir.

Conclusion

Almighty Kabir, who blessed Kalu Jhimar and granted him the true salvation mantra, is present today on earth playing divine spectacle as Jagatgutu Tatvadarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. He is the real complete guru, the enlightened saint, the provider of salvation, doing the welfare of devotees in His shelter. Take initiation and get your welfare done.
