Guru Nanak Dev Kept Satnam Secret (Bhai Bala Janam Sakhi)

The whole Sikh community follows the preachings of respected Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and firmly believes that he attained salvation by chanting Satnam, the mantra provided to him by his Guru Ji. Yet they say God is formless. Respected Nanak Dev Ji has glorified his Satguru, who is in human form, in his several sacred speeches that have been scripted in the pious SGGS.  The same evidence has been mentioned in Bhai Bala Wali - JANAM SAKHI in the description mentioned about the conversation held between Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji with Satpurush Kabir Sahib in Sachkhand/ Satlok, the eternal abode.

Let us know in detail what Shri Nanak Ji describes about his meeting with Akaal Purush/ Shabad Swaroopi Ram and the secret salvation mantra, Satnam being disclosed to him  by God Kabir, his Satguru

Satpurush Kabir Sahib Met Shri Nanak Dev Ji

The life history of respected Guru Nanak Dev Ji reveals that in Samvat 1554, once, as per his routine, when Nanak Dev Ji went to take a bath in the Bein river, he met a saint who, during the conversation, made Nanak Ji realise - what was the purpose of his human life? Why was he sent into this mortal world? That saint in Jinda Baba form made Nanak Ji aware of the order that had been bestowed on him from Sache Darbar (the Supreme God’s place, Satlok). The sight of Jinda Baba was highly mesmerising, and Akaal Purush Kabir Sahib,  disguised in Jinda Baba form, inspired the pious soul Shri Nanak Dev Ji a lot. Highly influenced by the true spiritual knowledge provided by Jinda Baba, Shri Nanak Ji acquired Him as his guru.

Then Shri Nanak Ji took a dip in the Bein river. Inside the water, Nanak Ji got into the state of meditation and remained at the feet of Jinda Baba/ Satpurush Kabir Sahib, from where God took his pious soul to Sachkhand, showed Nanak Ji His entire marvellous creation. After three days, Satguru Kabir Sahib sent the soul back into the body. Thereafter, Shri Nanak Dev Ji penned down his amazing experience of his visit to Sachkhand and highly glorified his Satguru Kabir Sahib in human form in his nectar speeches, which have been scripted in the pious SGGS.

What is Satnam?

Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Chapter 17, Verse 23, reveals the true salvation mantra to attain Param Akshar Purush/Satpurush Kabir Sahib, which is ‘Om-Tat-Sat' (coded). Satnaam is a two-word mantra 'Om-Tat' (indicative), which an enlightened saint decodes. Om is the mantra of Kshar Purush, who is the owner of 21 universes, and TAT (coded) is the mantra of Akshar Purush, who is the owner of seven Quadrillion universes. The seeker who obtains Satnaam from the Tatvadarshi Sant transcends to the realm of Akshar Purush and gets relieved from the dreadful trap of Kaal Brahm. The complete three-word mantra is to attain Param Akshar Brahm means God Kabir, who was the guru of Shri Nanak Dev Ji.

God Kabir Granted Satnaam To Nanak Dev Ji

After returning from Sachkhand, pious soul Nanak Ji used to remain engrossed in remembrance of God Kabir. His first Udasi was to Kashi, where he met Akaal Purush Kabir Sahib in weaver form, playing a divine act. Satpurush granted Nanak Ji Satnam. Having obtained the sachha Naam Shri Nanak Ji was thrilled and out of excitement and happiness, his first reaction praising his Satguru Kabir Ji was ‘Satnam Waheguru'. At other places, Shri Nanak Ji greets his Satguru ‘wah wah Kabir guru pura hai'.

God Kabir had categorically told Nanak Ji not to reveal Satnaam to anyone.

The whole Sikh community is misled on the concept of ‘what is Satnam? and sing ‘Satnaam Waheguru’ considering it to be a salvation mantra, but they are all mistaken.

God Kabir instructed Shri Nanak Ji to keep Satnaam a secret because it was to be kept hidden until the destined duration as specified by God Kabir comes (till Kalyug passes 5505 years), else the messengers of Kaal will misuse it and souls in the middle generation will remain deprived of attaining salvation.

Note: The creation of the universe mentioned in Sachidanand Ghan Brahm's speech clarifies this whole process of creation till the liberation of souls.

The description mentioned ahead in Bhai Bala Wali Janam Sakhi affirms that Satpurush told Nanak Ji to keep Satnaam secret. Let us study.

Satguru Kabir Sahib Told Nanak Ji Not To Reveal Satnaam

God Kabir had asked Guru Nanak Dev Ji for this secret information about the True Naam (Satnaam) not to be revealed.  Its evidence is mentioned on page 275: Agge Sakhi Sachkhand di Challi –

Definition Of Vishnu

Pious Yajurved Adhyay 5 Mantra 1 glorifies Satpurush Kabir Sahib, who is in human form, who is all-pervading, the overall controller of the entire universe, the nurturer, God Vishnu

“Agne TanuH Asi | Vishnve Tva Somasya Tanur' Asi || ”

In the aforementioned description in Bhai Bala wali Janam Sakhi, the Vishnu greeted is the supreme God Kavir Dev, who is omnipresent, the overall controller.

Due to a lack of true spiritual knowledge, the people are just aware of Trilokiye Satogun Lord Vishnu in the realm of Kaal and consider him only to be the preserver deity.  Whereas God Kabir is the real Vishnu

Can one attain God by reciting 'Waheguru Satnam'?

Satlok Ashram

'Waheguru Satnam' is no mantra to be chanted. The whole Sikh community is misled. In reality it is the indication by Guru Nanak Dev Ji towards the true salvation mantra provided to him by God Chanting which he attained God. Upon receiving Satnam mantra (indicative) out of happiness the spontaneous reaction of Nanak Dev Ji was 'Waheguru Satnam' means he expressed happiness to have obtained real mantra with which he will be liberated from the web of butcher Brahm Kaal and will be able to go to the eternal native world Satlok.

It is believed that Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the worshipper of Lord Vishnu and used to chant OM mantra therefore, he attained heaven.

Satlok Ashram

Till Guru Nanak Dev Ji was not aware of 'Who is God?' he used to do arbitrary practice and worship Demi gods but after Almighty KavirDev met him and took him to Satlok, provided true spiritual knowledge and granted salvation mantras Guru Nanak Dev Ji worshipped Satpurush KavirDev and chanted Satnam mantra whose evidence is in Janam Sakhi - Bhai Bale Wali on Page 275: 'Agge Sakhi Sachkhand di Challi' in SGGS. Nanak Dev Ji attained Satlok and not heaven.
