There was one Muslim King named Wajeed. Once he was going from his Kingdom to another city. It was a desert area. People used to ride on Camels. There were thousands of bodyguards. Ministers, Prime Ministers, religious gurus, and physicians also accompanied. Everyone was riding on Camels. They were going from between the mountains, through a valley.

The Camels were walking one behind each other. That valley was so narrow that only one Camel could go in a row. One Camel all of a sudden fell in that valley and immediately died. King’s convoy came to a halt because there was no space to cross from the side. Ahead there was a long queue of Camels. The Valley was 3-4 kilometres long. This incident took place in between.

Sultan Wajid said ‘Who stopped the Convoy without my permission? Call him’. The ministers went to inquire and told the reason after returning. King Wajeed said ‘Show me, how did the Camel die without my permission?’  Sultan Wajid saw the eyes were alright, the nose, ears, leg, tail, neck everything was alright. Then how has the Camel died? The religious gurus (Peer) said ‘O King! The time that God has fixed whichever creature, he stays in this world till that time. Be it a human or any other creature’. King Wajeed questioned the guru ‘Will I also die?’ Guru Ji said ‘Yes, you will also die. Your grandfather, great grandfather were also emperors. They also died. One day everyone has to depart. It is said

‘Ekke chote sidhariya Jin Milan da chaah’

King Wajeed told everyone to move back. First, the convoy moved ahead. They dragged and took that dead Camel. It is said

‘Wajeed kahe uthao oont to, loge kahe ye muaa |

The Camel had died

Utthan wali cheez rahi nahee, gaya ood salani suaa ||

The soul within him which was running him, due to which the Camel was alive

Kuchh nakshak bigdaa hai nahee, Wajeed ko acharjya huaa||
Jin Kara achambha ghore hai tajaa Raj Kaal se darke||
Tajaa Raj Kaal se darke, tajaa Raj Kaal se darke||

Then they returned to their Kingdom. King Wajeed asked ‘O Peer (Guru) Ji! Then what is the benefit of human life?’ Guru Ji said that ‘by doing devotion of God/ Allah immortality can be attained. As soon as the King came to his Palace he gave up his royal robes, abandoned the throne, his wives (Queens) everything and left home. He has many wives, and all of them started crying. What will happen to us? You are our husband. Wajeed Ji said ‘this world is a sinking swamp. I have to attain immortality. I'm going now. I won’t agree. I have to get rid of birth and death.

Devotee Dhanna Jaat Inspired King Wajeed For True Devotion

Sultan Wajid went to the forest and started performing meditation aiming to attain Allah/God. For survival, there he built a hut. He had to arrange for his food, and shelter to remain safe from summer and winter strokes. He used to meditate inside the cave. During the day he used to stay in the hut.

Unless the creature gets true devotion he remains confused like this and keeps wandering. God remains with his steadfast devotees who had performed His true devotion sometimes in earlier human births. In this Connection, there was one great devotee of God Kabir named Dhanna Jaat to whom Almighty met and preached true spiritual knowledge. He got to know about King Wajid performing austerity in the Jungle. He went to meet him. He stayed with Wajid Ji for a few days and observed him thoroughly.

Wajid Ji said to Dhanna Ji ‘You do not practise?’ Then devotee Dhanna said ‘I do a lot of practice’. Wajid Ji said ‘No, you lie. You are deceiving yourself. You do not do devotion’. What practice does Wajid Ji used to do? During the day he used to sit in the hut and perform hatha yoga for hours and would hardly talk to devotee Dhanna for an hour or so and during night he goes inside the cave to practise.

Hearing this, Wajeed Ji was shocked. He said ‘Brother, what do you mean by this? What is the right way of worship?’ Because whoever aims to attain God, seeks the right way of worship. Then Dhanna Bhagat explained that God is never attained by meditation. This is the wrong way of worship. The right mantras have to be chanted.

Naam utthat naam baithat naam sovat jaag ve| Naam khate naam Peete naam seti laagve ||

Meaning: The true salvation mantras should be chanted day and night while sitting, walking, working, and eating. The concentration of the seeker should always be in the remembrance of God Kabir. He is the provider of salvation.

Respected Sant Garibdas Ji Maharaj says in his nectar speech

Jaise hali beej dhun, panthi se batravey |
Vamey khand pade nahi, aise dhyan lagawey ||

Meaning: As the farmer who ploughs the field and sows seeds remains focussed on his job and doesn’t get distracted by a traveller who asks the address of a place which the farmer tells without getting distracted, in the same way, a devotee should remain focussed in his devotion.

Listening to Dhanna Jaat, Wajeed Ji was shocked and requested Dhanna Ji to guide him. Then Dhanna Ji said ‘I will arrange your meeting with my Gurudev. Listen to His spiritual discourses and take initiation from him. Then Wajid Ji went along with Dhanna Jaat to meet Gurudev, God/Allah Kabir who had appeared at that time and used to do sermons. Wajid Sultan took initiation from Allah Kabir. Then Wajid Ji quit the wrong practice of Hatha Yoga and started the right way of worship which was ‘Sahaj Samadhi’ and became eligible for the attainment of salvation.

This is how Dhanna Bhagat facilitated King Wajid for true devotion.

The Story of An Old Lady and Wajid

Reference: Sukshma Veda, nectar speech no.15 explained by respected Sant Garib Das Ji Maharaj from the book ‘Yatharth Bhakti Bodh:

Garib, budhiya aur Wajeed Ji, Sunahi ke anand |
Roti charon mukti hai, Katey gale phand ||
Ek Dane ka nikaas, Sehans Dano ka prakas |
Jis bhandare se Ann niksa, so bhandara bharpoor||
Kaal kuntuk doore|
Sati anndev Santoshi pavey, Jaki vasnaa teen lok mein samave||

Once Wajeed Ji was leading the life of a recluse after renouncing his Kingdom and family in the Jungle. There was a bitch who gave birth to 8 puppies. They were very hungry. An old lady was going to work in the fields. She had 4 pieces of bread. Wajid saw her and said ‘Mother! Give one bread to this bitch. She is about to die of hunger. Along with her, 8 puppies will also die’. The old lady was very clever. She said ‘It’s my hard-earned earnings, how can I give it just like that?’ The saint said ‘How will you give bread?’ The old lady said ‘You give me the fourth part of your devotion. I will give bread‘.

The saint made a resolution of the ¼th part of his practice and gave it to the old lady. That old lady gave one piece of bread to the bitch yet the bitch remained hungry. Gradually, the old lady gave all 4 breeds to the bitch and Sant Wajeed resolute his entire devotional earning to the old lady with which the life of the bitch (Sunahi) and her puppies was saved. By offering bread the old lady obtained the devotional earning while Wajid Ji became empty of devotion but due to giving life to the bitch and her puppies he attained heaven.

Therefore, it has been mentioned in Sacchidanand Ghan Brahm's speech

Dharam to dhaske (naash) nahee, dhaske teeno lok |
Khairayat mein khair hai, kije aatam pokh||

Meaning: Charity, good deeds done never go a waste. It is always rewarded even when three realms are destroyed. Therefore, one should continue to do righteous deeds.

Sant Garib Das Ji Glorified Devout Wajeed

Reference: Nectar speech no.42 of respected Sant Garib Das Ji Maharaj from the book ‘Yatharth Bhakti Bodh’ on page 116 and speech no 105 on pages 150, 151, written by Jagatguru Tatvdarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj

Speech no.42

Sultani Wajid Farida, Pipa parchey paaiya|
Deval pherya Gope gusain, Nama ki chaan chawayeean||

Meaning:  All those seekers who make efforts to attain God, do so due to inspiration from the power of devotional sacraments earned in previous human births. That seeker has in account the power of devotion due to which some miracles also happen in his life. Due to this reason, he considers himself a supreme saint and he becomes the favourite of people who start worshipping him which is dangerous for both. In this nectar speech, it has been told that due to previous sacraments, a few miracles happened in the life of some steadfast devotees named Abraham Sultan Adham, Wajeed, Farid, Pipa and Namdev. God does miracles due to the power of devotion of previous births of true devotees.

Speech no 105

Pipa Dhanna chadhe Wajida, Seu Samman aur Farida ||

In the aforesaid speech, explaining the value and importance of true worship, steadfast devotees named Pipa Ji, Dhanna Jaat, Wajid Ji, Seu-Samman and Farid have been glorified who were fortunate to have an audience of God/Allah Kabir. All did true devotion and became eligible for the attainment of emancipation.

God Kabir emphasises the importance of true devotion in the following Hymn. He says that devotee should only demand devotion from God with which his welfare  happens and he is liberated from the trap of Kaal. This is the sole aim of human birth.

Sat Kabir dware tere par ek daas bhikari aaya hai, bhakti ki bhiksha de deejo umeed katora lyaya hai|
Runka Bunka jaisa Tyag nahee, mera wajeed jaisa bairaag nahee|
Mera Karma jaisa bhaag nahee, jiska aan kheechda khaya hai||
Bhakti ki bhiksha de deejo umeed katora lyaya hai||

Conclusion

King Wajid had the power of devotion stored in his account due to which he quit unscriptural devotion like hatha yoga/severe austerity/ meditation and did true devotion to God Kabir who descends in this world In every Era. Today Almighty Kabir has descended yet again into the holy land of Haryana, India. He is none other than the great enlightened Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. All must take His refuge to become eligible for a final journey to the immortal abode Satlok and get freedom once and for all from the vicious cycle of birth and death.

I find it puzzling to hear about Wajid Ji's purported austerity for Allah, as the concept of Dhanna Jaat is entirely unfamiliar to me. Wajid Ji's worship of Allah, as mentioned in the Quran Sharif, seems authentic, making this story appear manipulative.

Satlok Ashram

Dear reader, we appreciate your perspective on our article. Initially, Wajid Ji indeed worshipped Allah, which contradicts the teachings of the Quran Sharif, directing Hazrat Muhammad to seek refuge with a Bakhabar Saint for true worship guidance. Upon receiving this guidance, Wajid Ji corrected his worship, ultimately achieving salvation. For further understanding, we suggest reading the book Gyan Ganga and tuning into the spiritual discourses of Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj on various social media platforms.

Surjit Singh

Dhanna Jaat was a devout follower of Vishnu Ji, whom he believed as almighty god. It's noteworthy that Wajid Ji also embraced Dhanna Jaat's teachings and commenced worshipping according to Hindu beliefs.

Satlok Ashram

Dear reader, thank you for your engagement with our article. While Dhanna Jaat did guide Wajid Ji in correcting his worship practices, it's essential to note that Dhanna Jaat himself was under the guidance of the Almighty God Kabir Ji. Wajid Ji accepted this true knowledge of Almighty God Kabir Ji through Dhanna Jaat. For deeper spiritual insights, we recommend reading the book Gyan Ganga and listening to the spiritual discourses of Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj.
