God Ordered Living Beings to be Vegetarians in the Bible

God Allowed Veg Food for Living Beings in the Bible

What you think about being vegetarian. What can you eat as a vegetarian? What does God say about eating animals? God created this world, and we are god's creation. Each soul in this universe is God's beloved soul. God loves both human beings and animals alike. Psalms 36:6 - thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast. He is our father, creator so guess how a father could order one child to kill and eat another child? No. Right? So God never asked us to have non-veg.  But what about those verses which do concern eating non-veg. This article will make you clear about actuality. In this article, we will Find out-

  • Proof of proclamation of God to be vegetarian.
  • What about Bible verses about eating meat.

God Who Created the Universe Provided Herbs as Food

God created the universe within six days. He made us and provided food for everyone.

Genesis 1:29 (KJV) - And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

God has given seed-bearing plants, trees and fruit yielding seeds to us, which shall be our food.

Genesis 1:30 (KJV) - And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

God provided green herbs for everything that creeps on the earth.

Isaiah 11:6-9 proves It right. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. (Isaiah 11:6, KJV)

And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. (Isaiah- 11:7, KJV)

Hence it is proved that God has provided green plants for every living being.

In Garden of Eden

In the Garden of Eden, the same thing was there. In Genesis 2:9, we see every plant was charming at sight and good for food.

We see, God made us fruits and leafy plants as food. He did not order to consume non-veg.

Genesis 1:26 - And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and overall the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  Here ruling or domain neither constitutes killing nor eating them, but rather governing and nurturing. God gave us (humans) dominion over all the earth, not to eat everything but to protect them. He made us accountable for the way we treat his creation. Like in Psalms 147:9 (KJV)- He gives to the animal their food and to the young ravens when they cry.

In Genesis 2:16, Lord God commanded Adam to eat any fruit he wants from the garden. After Adam ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge he was punished in Genesis 3:18, that his food will be planted.

Bible Insists to be Generous

Let's not forget, Romans 14:20-21. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. (Romans 14:21)

Means Do not destroy the work of god for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else which causes your brother sisters to fall. We must not stumble anyone for our sake.

Arguments In the Bible for Eating Meat

Non-vegetarian insists on Genesis 9:3, in which god stated to Noah that - Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But they should remember the verse Genesis 9:4, where it is told clearly unlawful to consume animal or kill them - But flesh with the life thereof, is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. Also, God never asked to do sacrifices. In Isaiah, 1:11, - To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? Saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. Lord doesn't want bloodshed. He wants mercy, not sacrifice.

Was Daniel in the Bible a Vegetarian?

Some greatest examples of faithfulness towards God is Daniel and his colleagues. Was Daniel in the Bible a vegetarian?

In Daniel 1:8 (KJV) - But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

In Daniel 1:12 (KJV) - Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.

As a result of this Daniel 1:15 (KJV) - And at the end of ten days, their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat. When Daniel preferred to eat veg over the king's meat, then God had brought Daniel into the favour and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs. Last day his features appeared better and fatter than other children who ate the portion of King's delicacies. Daniel has an understanding in all visions and dreams (Daniel 1:17).

Jesus Quotes in the Bible About Eating Meat

God is gracious and kind. He loves the souls of animals and humans alike. We have seen in the above verses that God gave us seed-bearing     and fruit-bearing plants to eat. Even microorganisms are his child. He ordered to be vegetarian. What did the bible say about not eating meat? What did the bible say about not eating animals? Christ never asked for killing and eating meat. But some verses are there which supports eating non-veg. In the Bible, Corinthians 2, 2:12-17, there is proof that spirits used to enter the body of Jesus.

Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ, we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God. (Corinthians 2, 2:17)

Here it is proof that spirits used to enter the body of Jesus. Kaal Brahm sent some spirits in the body of Jesus to make false prophecies. Some of them speak the words of God without adulteration, but spirits used to peddle the words of God. And these spirits only have given the direction of killing and eating animals.

Here we see, the Bible is full of verses on what to eat. The Bible on vegetarianism is clear. What god has given, when he made us is significant. We must focus on that. Remember God never ordered to kill animals. He made seeds bearing plants and fruits, vegetables, grains. Do not kill any animal. In the context of Daniel, it was proved that God helps those who obey him. Every soul belongs to God and he loves each and every child. Hereby it is proved that God in the Bible asks to be vegetarian as he gave leafy plants and fruits for living beings.

How to make people believe that one should be vegetarian?

Satlok Ashram

People of all religions should make efforts to know what their religious scriptures tell about the order of God as what the humans should eat? No holy scripture tells us to consume meat since it is against the constitution of God. Meat eaters suffer a lot in the court of God after death. This fear in people will motivate all to be vegetarian.

Neelam Kumari

There are dedicated festivals in few religions which promote slaughtering claiming to please their revered deity. How can this be controlled? How will non vegetarians stop eating meat and turn to become vegetarian

Satlok Ashram

Slaughtering and eating meat is the outcome of ignorance of true spiritual knowledge. It is when people stop fearing God and make useless practices where they make offerings compulsory during festivals. Such practices are man made and can never be the order of God. Such rituals should be abandoned. One should only follow true religious practices described in our holy scriptures which tell about the constitution of God to be vegetarian.
